Sir,

In reply to your letter No. 2 of the 7th instant,

I am directed to inform you that His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to grant you an allowance of $130 per annum as compensation for the privilege you have until recently enjoyed of rearing vegetables for your private consumption in the Government Kitchen Garden.

This allowance will be personal to yourself and cannot be drawn by your locum tenens nor by you whilst you are absent on leave.
